Received Wisdom Facilitation

Create an Active Network of Your Own Facilitators

Objectives

The aim of the training will be to produce a self-sustaining, improving network of skilled facilitators, able to act as a resource throughout the organisation to remove the frustration from meetings.

They will learn the key attributes of successful meetings and know how to turn every meeting, from small to large, informal to formal, into a success.

They will have a palette of skills and tactics from which to choose, rather than a "cook-book" approach to facilitation.

At the end of the event, participants will be able to answer the following questions;

What is a facilitator? How to get commitment?
How to keep a group on track? How to develop a group?
Why, When and How to use one? How to handle difficult people?
How to involve everyone? How to develop group ideas?
How to manage a meeting? How to manage conflict?

In addition, the workshop will give participants the opportunity to;

Develop their knowledge & skills as facilitators
Examine useful techniques & approaches
Come up with new angles on existing problems
Develop confidence in the facilitation role through practicing the skills
Recognise their individual strengths and areas for development
Exchange views, experiences & skills with others
Develop a network of facilitation support

Style

The training will be conducted in an informal, workshop style, utilising plenary discussions, presentations, syndicates, videos, etc. All of the learning will be embedded by direct practical experience. Participants will be expected to support each other’s learning.

Duration

The workshop will run for 3 days. It is anticipated that there will be an additional follow-up training day some 2 – 3 months after the workshop, where the network can explore their results and their impact, share their learning and refresh any skills.
